Arundhuti Banerjee

Dr. Arundhuti Banerjee is a visiting scientist at the United Nations University-Institute for Environment and Human Security (Bonn). Her research at UNU focuses on employing artificial intelligence (AI) on synthetic aperture radar (SAR)-based images for flood detection and mapping. She is particularly interested in developing AI-driven early warning systems for disasters using satellite data and explainable machine learning methods to support disaster preparedness and resilience. She is also working as a full-time research scientist at Fraunhofer LBF in Darmstadt. She completed her postdoctoral research at Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) in earthquake prediction and uncertainty quantification.
