Alejandro Montenegro López

Alejandro Montenegro is currently a Business Analyst intern at Amazon and a Business Intelligence student at Tecnológico de Monterrey (TEC), set to graduate in June 2025. Following a successful project at TEC in collaboration with MIT, he was invited to participate in a research and development initiative at MIT’s Low-Income Firms Transformation (LIFT) Lab during the second half of 2024.

The project, called, Lupita, is an AI-powered image recognition system designed to help store owners automatically record sales by capturing photos of purchased products. It also aims to update the store’s inventory and provides restocking recommendations based on sales history. The goal of Lupita is to make artificial intelligence accessible to nano-stores, colloquially known as “tienditas”, across Mexico and Latin America, which often lack access to such technology.

As he nears graduation, Alejandro is dedicated to leveraging his experience from MIT, Tecnológico de Monterrey, and Amazon to drive meaningful change in his community, applying his expertise in artificial intelligence to create innovative and impactful solutions.
