This duet between a human performer and an industrial robotic arm probes the evolving boundary between animate and inanimate, intuition and computation. The robot is not treated as a tool, but as a partner - an autonomous presence shaped by choreography, code, and collaboration. Rooted in Dr. Merritt Moore’s background as a quantum physicist and professional ballet dancer, the work explores how rhythm, responsiveness, and emotion can emerge from mechanical systems. Through shared gestures, pauses, and proximity, dancer and robot construct a dialogue - one that is at times synchronized, at times resistant - foregrounding the tension and potential in human-machine interaction. Rather than relying on the robot mimicking human motion, the performance is driven by co-creation: what a robot can express that a human cannot, and vice versa. It reflects a practice built not on command and obedience, but on listening, improvisation, and mutual shaping of form. Performed by Dr. Merritt Moore (Quantum Physicist - Harvard, University of Oxford Ph.D; and Professional Ballerina -Boston Ballet, Zurich Ballet, English National Ballet, Norwegian National Ballet) and Alex Jones (former Principal Dancer - Zurich Ballet, Stuttgart Ballet).
