This is a replay of the session that took place on the Centre Stage during the AI for Good Global Summit in Geneva, Switzerland from 30 to 31 May, 2024.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is already playing a crucial role in law enforcement efforts to save children from sexual exploitation and abuse. From quickly identifying child abuse material within thousands of gigabytes of data, to flagging signs of luring or grooming of children in chats, there are many AI tools and techniques available. The AI for Safer Children initiative and its AI Global Hub, launched by UNICRI’s Centre for AI and Robotics and the Ministry of Interior of the UAE, not only provides more than 80 relevant AI tools, but also provides guidance and capacity-building trainings to law enforcement worldwide on how to responsibly implement the AI tools into investigative workflows. This panel discussion will focus on how AI is already helping save children and include panellists from various stakeholders participating in this global process, including law enforcement, government, AI tool developers, and international and civil society organizations.
