Welcome to the second workshop series put together by ITU and ZICTA. We focus on bringing the latest technologies to you and your inputs would help us collaboratively leapfrog to the next generation of AI technologies. This collaboration will enable regional technical leadership and foster improved standards opportunities for industry and academia in Zambia.

In this workshop, we describe the opportunities for Zambian researchers to experiment, analyse data, design and deploy AI models, and create end-to-end AI-based innovations using ITU AI for Good Sandbox. Existing projects would be described in this workshop. Steps for onboarding academia, researchers, startups, and policymakers are explained. Downstream benefits such as publication opportunities, challenge prizes, standards contributions and leadership are pointed out. Access to ITU trainings, local events, opensource data, open models and code would be provided as part of the ITU AI for Good Sandbox.
In the workshop we explain – how you can be involved in this collaboration? What are the resources available from ITU to enable your contributions? Join the discussion on opportunities in 2026.
