Aligned with UN initiatives to solve global challenges, the EY Open Science AI & Data Challenge is an annual competition that gives university students and early-career professionals the opportunity to develop machine-learning models using AI, data and computing technology to create open-source solutions that address sustainability issues. Since its inception in 2021, over 45,000 participants from 146 countries have signed on to tackle pressing issues such as managing wildfires, preserving biodiversity and building coastal resilience.  During this session, winners of the 2025 challenge will present their solutions designed to solve the problem of the urban heat island effect.  We’ll also share information on the 2026 data challenge, including how to register, the tentative schedule and proposed topic.
