Equal access to information is essential for creating equitable opportunities, particularly for people with disabilities. This session explores how artificial intelligence can help bridge long-standing accessibility gaps and enable more inclusive communication for diverse communities.

The first case focuses on AI-powered sign language accessibility. Advances in AI have accelerated the development of sign language translation technologies, expanding access to digital information for the estimated 466 million deaf and hard-of-hearing people worldwide. The session will present practical applications of AI-driven sign language solutions and how they improve access to information for the deaf community.

The second case examines AI-driven Easy Read conversion, an accessible format designed to simplify complex text. Easy Read can benefit approximately 200 million people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), as well as foreigners and individuals with low literacy. The session will introduce LLM-based Easy Read conversion technologies and demonstrate how AI can transform complex content into clearer and more understandable information.

Together, these examples illustrate how AI can help create a more inclusive society by making essential information accessible to people with diverse communication needs
