Pablo Maurente

Pablo Maurente is a mathematician from Uruguay. He holds a Master’s degree in Mathematics from Universidad de la República and a Master’s degree in Data Science from Universidad de Montevideo. He is currently pursuing doctoral studies in Mathematics, with a research focus on number theory, Galois representations, modularity, and the Langlands program.

His academic and applied work combines mathematical rigor with artificial intelligence and machine learning. He has developed projects in environmental monitoring, computer vision, and predictive modeling. These include cyanobacteria prediction using satellite, meteorological, and in-situ data; cattle detection from drone imagery using YOLO-based models; and his Master’s thesis in Data Science at Universidad de Montevideo, focused on detecting bus stops along routes using satellite imagery. Through these projects, Pablo has worked on transforming complex data into practical tools for scientific, environmental, and infrastructure-related decision-making.

With a strong interest in the use of AI for science, agriculture, and environmental sustainability, Pablo focuses on applications that can generate concrete impact in Latin America. He believes that artificial intelligence can help improve the monitoring of natural resources, support more efficient agricultural systems, and strengthen decision-making in both public and private sectors.

Pablo also has experience as a university lecturer, teaching mathematics and computing-related subjects. Through his research background, applied AI projects, and teaching experience, he aims to contribute to responsible and impactful AI solutions that connect advanced mathematics, modern machine learning, and real-world challenges.
