Ladipoe

Oladipo Eso, known professionally as LADIPOE, is a Nigerian rapper and recording artist celebrated for his razor-sharp lyricism, adept songwriting, and unmatched flow. His music is distinguished by witty, layered one-liners his fans call “Lifelines”- a nod to their depth and delivery.

Ladipoe is widely regarded as the “Leader of the Revival” (LOTR), a title that speaks to the breath of fresh air his sound, flow, and performance style bring to the African rap landscape. His genre-blending approach, which fuses rap with contemporary African sounds, has helped redefine perceptions of African rap music while establishing him as a pioneer of Afro-fusion rap. He showcases versatility and flair while consistently challenging conventional perceptions of African artistry.

His love for music took root in secondary school. He later moved to the United States to study Chemistry and Biology at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke, where he co-founded the rap group Lyrically Equipped alongside friends Jeffrey and Kurt. It was also during this period that he was introduced to Nigerian rap supergroup Show Dem Camp – a connection that proved pivotal. His feature on SDC’s hit single “Feel Alright” announced him to the public consciousness in a significant way.

In 2017, Ladipoe joined Mavin Records as the label’s first rapper, making his entrance with the Altims-produced debut single “Man Already.” His debut project, Talk About Poe, followed in 2018 to widespread acclaim. He continued to build his catalogue with fan favourites including “Lemme Know” – which featured singer Teni on the remix – and “Providence,” which appeared on Revival Sundays, a compilation of loosies released in December 2019.

Ladipoe’s biggest breakthrough came in 2021 with “Feeling,” featuring breakout star Buju. The record amassed over 80 million streams within four months of release, becoming the undisputed song of the summer in Nigeria and beyond. It topped local radio charts for eight consecutive weeks, making Ladipoe the first rapper in Nigerian history to achieve the feat. The single earned him numerous prestigious nominations, most notably a BET Award nomination for Best International Flow.

That same year, he released the critically acclaimed Providence EP, featuring Rema, Fireboy DML, and Amaarae. The momentum carried into 2022 with “Big Energy,” adding another standout record to his growing catalogue.
