Lumona Mulengwa

Lumona Mulengwa is a self-taught software developer, educator, and entrepreneur passionate about using technology to solve real-world challenges in climate, fintech, and education. Over the past seven years, he has represented Kenya on the global stage, first as a participant and later as a technical mentor at the FIRST Global Challenge, the world’s robotics olympics.

In 2019, at just 20 years old, Lumona was honored with the Global Outstanding Mentor Award for his exceptional leadership and impact in guiding international teams through innovation challenges focused on climate change, pandemics, and clean energy.

Through his company, Electrixitaty, Lumona leads multiple ventures at the intersection of AI, blockchain, and sustainability, including Gokijany, a pioneering project that leverages technology to advance carbon offset and climate action through tokenized environmental impact.

Beyond entrepreneurship, Lumona has redefined STEM and robotics education in Africa. His flagship programs, Robotics for Critical Thinkers & Future Leaders under the Global Robotics Challenge and Software Engineering for World-Changers under the NextGen Impact Challenge, have become continental benchmarks for hands-on, future-ready learning.

In 2025, one of his junior teams made history as Kenya’s first national junior winners of the AI for Good Robotics Challenge, run by the ITU and the University of Nairobi, earning a place to represent the country in Switzerland.

Lumona’s mission is clear: to inspire the next generation of African innovators and build scalable solutions that merge technology, sustainability, and entrepreneurship for global good
