Jorge Esteban Castañeda Lopez

Jorge Esteban Castañeda Lopez is a Systems Engineer and AI specialist dedicated to bridging the gap between advanced computational research and sustainable industrial transformation. He is the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of the Young AI Leaders Bogotá Hub, part of the global AI for Good ecosystem, where he spearheads the technical strategy to foster a high performance network of AI talent across Latin America.

His work sits at the intersection of Artificial Intelligence, software architecture, and the energy transition. Currently a Doctoral candidate in Engineering, Esteban is developing optimization frameworks for the Colombian electricity market, focusing on Demand Response and decentralized energy systems. His approach combines deep technical expertise in Machine Learning and Cloud Architecture with a strategic vision for how intelligent systems can accelerate a just and efficient energy transition.

With a dual Master’s degree in Artificial Intelligence and Systems and Computing Engineering, Esteban brings extensive experience in the software industry and higher education. He has led the design of scalable, production ready AI solutions while simultaneously shaping the next generation of engineers as a university professor.

Esteban’s trajectory is defined by technical rigor and a commitment to social impact, translating complex academic research into robust digital products and initiatives that solve real world challenges in the Global South.
