Thierry Cordier Lassalle is a seasoned WHO health expert and Senior Health Operations Coordinator with extensive experience leading health programmes and teams across global, regional, and national levels—often in complex and emergency settings. With over 15 years in the private sector prior to joining WHO in 2008, he brings a unique blend of management and public health expertise to his work.
His role focuses on coordinating health security and humanitarian emergencies, with a strong emphasis on community empowerment as a driver of equitable health governance and universal health coverage. Thierry works to prevent and respond to crises by strengthening local actors’ capacities through localization principles, fostering collaboration among multi-sectoral health and development partners.
His expertise spans designing innovative health operations tools, establishing quality-driven pooled procurement systems to accelerate access to medical supplies, and shaping health policies and best practices with Member States. Committed to sustainable impact, Thierry has dedicated efforts to building health workforce capacity through learning initiatives and scaling up emergency preparedness by promoting knowledge-sharing and system-wide best practices.
