Stella Suge

Stella Suge

Stella Suge is a visionary nonprofit leader with a strong commitment to equity, empowerment, and humanitarian reform. As Executive Director of FilmAid Kenya, Stella has led the organization’s transition from an internationally driven initiative to a nationally focused nonprofit that champions locally led solutions. Through the power of storytelling, media, and the arts, FilmAid addresses critical issues such as mental health, education, gender equity, climate change, and economic empowerment.

A core aspect of Stella’s work involves training refugees as media professionals—amplifying their voices and enabling them to reshape narratives and advocate for their communities. Initiatives like FilmAid’s annual Film Festival and partnerships with the Kenya Film Commission have bridged gaps between refugees and host communities while contributing to national policy dialogue.

Stella is a strong advocate for localization within the aid sector, contributing to global platforms such as Devex World, CDAC Network, ICRC, and UNHCR. As former chair of the NGO Refugee Group in Kenya, Stella collaborated with over 30 country directors to drive impactful refugee programs.

Stella holds a BA in Economics and Business Studies from Kenyatta University, leadership training from GELI and EUI, and a CPA Part 1. She believes in the transformative power of opportunity and inclusion to drive sustainable change.
