Siyabulela Mausi

Siyabulela Mausi is a social impact strategist committed to bridging the gap between technology, the creative economy, and underrepresented communities in South Africa. As the Hub Manager and Chairperson of Impact and Programs at The Cortex Hub, an innovation and technology incubator based in East London, Eastern Cape, she leads strategic programs that equip young people with digital literacy, technical skills, and entrepreneurial tools to thrive in the digital economy.

Siyabulela plays a pivotal role in initiatives such as the Cisco Networking Academy Lab, the inaugural South African National Robotics for Good Youth Challenge, in collaboration with international organisations AI for Good and the International Telecommunication Union, as well as programmes in AI, machine learning, and fibre optics. Her work is deeply rooted in a mission to expand access to STEM and digital innovation for historically marginalised communities.

A vocal advocate for women’s empowerment in technology, Siyabulela is deeply involved in initiatives that spotlight and support women in underrepresented fields. She spearheads events like Girls in ICT Day & Women in Engineering, which offer young women critical exposure to careers in tech and engineering, while fostering confidence, mentorship, and skill development. She also contributes to platforms like SHE PLAYS, where she advances conversations on gender equity in gaming and esports, advocating for meaningful representation and inclusive growth in emerging digital spaces.

Beyond The Cortex Hub, Siyabulela is the founder of Media Maus, a creative consultancy and culture management firm that amplifies the voices of entrepreneurs, innovators, and artists at the intersection of technology and storytelling. Under her leadership, Media Maus has gained national recognition, including a win in the MTN Top 10 Women in Business Challenge in 2024.

Her multidisciplinary approach spans educational reform, marketing strategy, immersive storytelling, and tech inclusion. Through curated metaverse exhibitions and culturally resonant media, she continues to explore how technology can unlock learning and opportunity. Siyabulela’s commitment remains clear: to create sustainable systems of change that center community, celebrate black excellence, and build futures where everyone has the tools to participate and lead.
