Sandra (Sandy) Westlake is the Head of Global Partnerships; Private Sector Partnerships for the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) based in Rome, Italy. She joined the WFP private sector team soon after its inception nearly fifteen years ago. Ms. Westlake provides strategic direction and guidance to a global team of fundraising and partnership experts to secure multi-million dollar transformational partnerships which deliver resources, expertise, technology and visibility with the aim of creating a world with zero hunger. During these years at WFP, she was responsible for building out the Yum! Brands’ partnership, the world’s largest private sector consumer fundraising campaign around the issue of hunger. In addition to this, she moved the private sector function within WFP from a ‘start up’ to a mature business creating the governance structure and tools needed to lay the foundation for private sector engagement across the organization. Today, WFP is recognized as the humanitarian organization that is uniquely qualified to develop game-changing partnerships that can transform the lives of beneficiaries and provide companies with innovative leadership opportunities.

Ms. Westlake began her career in political fundraising and philanthropic giving. From there, she worked for global brands Esprit de Corps. and Levi’s in marketing and communications with a particular focus on cause-related marketing and corporate social responsibility. Additionally, she created ‘touch the consumer’ or experiential marketing campaigns for a wide array of global consumer brands at the boutique agency Grow Marketing in San Francisco, California. Ms. Westlake has more than twenty plus years of experience working in or with the private sector.
