Mauro Sulis

Mauro Sulis is a Lead Research & Technology Scientist at the Remote Sensing and Natural Resources Modelling Group of the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology. He is a Hydraulic Engineer with a PhD in Water Science. His research focuses on the exchanges and feedback mechanisms within the integrated groundwater-to-atmosphere water–energy–carbon cycle, with a particular emphasis on the role of vegetation. In his work, Mauro leverages high-performance computing (HPC) capabilities through the synergistic use of advanced numerical simulations, multi-source remote observations, and novel data-driven approaches. He leads a wide range of fundamental and applied research projects aimed at generating knowledge and providing decision support for pressing societal challenges such as agro-water management, environmental protection, and food security.
