Matthew Wyatt

Matthew Wyatt leads the FCDO’s Humanitarian, Food Security and Resilience Directorate. He has more than 30 years’ experience in Diplomacy and Development. Previous posts include Head of Middle East and North Africa Department, Head of Climate and Environment Department, Assistant President for External Affairs at the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), UK Ambassador to the UN agencies in Rome and Head of DFID in East Africa (based in Nairobi).

Education includes a BA in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from Oxford University and an Advanced degree from the College of Europe in Bruges.

Matthew speaks English, French and Italian and is married with two children. He enjoys running, hiking, tennis, snorkelling, scuba diving and the theatre.
