Jim Murdaugh

Dr. Jim Murdaugh has served as the sixth president of Tallahassee State College since October 2010, earning national and international recognition for his visionary leadership.

He holds degrees in criminology and public administration from Florida State University and completed executive training at Harvard University’s Kennedy School.

A respected leader in education and civic engagement, Dr. Murdaugh serves on the boards of the Florida Chamber Foundation, the Florida Technology Council, and the Economic Club of Florida. He chaired the Florida College System Council of Presidents in 2019–20, advocating for the role of colleges in driving Florida’s economic and social progress.

His distinguished leadership has earned numerous accolades, including International President of the Year (2017) from the Association of College Unions International and Entrepreneurial President of the Year (2022) from NACCE. He has been recognized in the Florida 500 as one of Florida’s most influential business leaders (2023, 2024) and received multiple lifetime achievement awards, including from the Association of Florida Colleges (2023) and Heroes in Public Safety (2020). His impact reflects a deep commitment to innovation, service, and community empowerment.
