Eiman Kanjo

Eiman Kanjo is Professor in TinyML and Pervasive Computing and Head of the Smart Sensing Lab at Nottingham Trent University. She is Honorary Visiting Professor at the Department of Computing, Imperial College London, where she was previously the Provost’s Visiting Professor in Pervasive Sensing and TinyML. She is the Turing University Network Academic Lead at the Alan Turing Institute and received the Turing Network Development Award in 2022. She has published over 154 research papers and secured funding from EPSRC, DCMS, Innovate UK, the EU, DSTL, ERDF, MoD, and the Lottery Fund. She is the director of the recently funded EPSRC Green+ tech network. Her research supports practical applications through collaborations with charities, local authorities, and industry. She received the EdgeAI Foundation Outstanding Educator Award in 2025 and serves on the steering committees of the EdgeAI Foundation EMEA, the EdgeAI Foundation Summit, tinyML EMEA, and the Academic Group. She leads EdgeAI Foundation/TinyML UK and co-chairs the BluePrint Group. She is active in the TinyML Foundation and is an editor at Data Centric Engineering. She is Associate Director at Health Data Research UK, leading initiatives to improve health data quality and develop clinical technologies. She was named one of the Top 50 Women in Engineering by the Women in Engineering Society and serves on the Royal Society’s Newton International Fellowships Committee. She was previously a Research Associate at the University of Cambridge’s Computer Laboratory and a member of the Cambridge eScience Centre. Earlier, she conducted research at the Mixed Reality Lab, University of Nottingham, in pervasive computing, mobile sensing, and location-based applications.
