Cyril Monette

Cyril Monette

Cyril Monette is a PhD Candidate at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), where his research focuses on animal-robot interactions. By integrating robotic devices in animal behavioural loops, he contributes to demonstrating how bio-hybrid systems can address increasingly complex ethological questions by optimising robots’ bio-acceptance and robotic perception of the animals.

With a great interest in the education of young roboticists, he organises practicals for bachelor students since 2023 as part of a class on embedded systems and took part in several science outreach events. Sensitive to the issue of sustainability, Monette is part of the repair cafe association Fix N’Replace, that attempts to extend the lifetime of different technological devices, and he further promoted sustainable robotic design by co-conceiving the first repairability index for robotic devices in partnership with iFixit.
