Claudia Seitz

Claudia Seitz studied law at the Universities of Freiburg, Basel and Strasbourg with stays abroad in Helsinki and Florence. After passing the First State Law Examination in 1996, she worked as a stagiary in the cabinet of the German judge at the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg. After completing her legal clerkship and the Second State Law Examination in 1998, she worked as an associate at the international law firm Cleary Gottlieb in Brussels from 1998 to 1999. In 2001, she received her doctorate in European law. at the University of Basel.

From 2002 to 2009, she worked as counsel at an international life sciences company in Basel. In addition, she completed postgraduate studies at King’s College London from 2006 to 2007 and a master’s degree from 2008 to 2009, which she completed in 2009 with a master’s degree (Master in Arts, M.A.). Since 2007, she has been a lecturer at the University of Basel in the Department of Public Law.

From 2014 to 2019, she was Max Geldner Assistant Professor at the University of Basel. Since 2019, she has been a visiting professor at the University of Ghent and also a lecturer at the Universities of Basel and Bonn. In 2024, she was also a visiting professor at Bina Nusantara University (BINUS) in Jakarta. Since 2021, she has been researching and teaching at the Private University in the Principality of Liechtenstein (UFL) in constitutional and administrative law, European law, international law, life sciences law and the law of new technologies.

Claudia Seitz habilitated at the University of Basel with a habilitation thesis on “Health and the State”. In 2022, she was awarded the Venia Legendi for Public Law, European Law, International Law and Life Sciences Law.

In 2023, she obtained a second Master’s degree (Executive Master in Law and AI) at the Brussels School of Artificial Intelligence (BSC Brussels).

At the beginning of 2023, Claudia Seitz was appointed Professor of Public Law, European Law, International Law and Life Sciences Law at the UFL, she is the designated head of the Institute for European and International Law (IEVR).
