Carole-Anne Kast

Born in Geneva in 1974, Ms. Carole-Anne Kast has held the position of State Councillor in charge of the Department of Institutions and Digital Affairs (DIN) since April 2023. As such, she is a member of the government of the canton of Geneva and is responsible for the digital policy of the State and chairs the government delegation pertaining to the digital transition. She is also in charge of  security and population matters. A member of the Socialist Party, which she chaired from 2014 to 2018, Ms. Kast began her political career in Onex, where she was a member of the city council from 1999 to 2005, before being elected to the Grand Council (cantonal parliament).

In addition to her political work, Ms. Kast has practiced as a lawyer at the ASLOCA Geneva legal secretariat (Tenants’ Association) and then as secretary general of the Rally for Social Housing Policy (RPSL). She also served as an associate judge at the Police Court. During her term on the Administrative Council of the City of Onex, Ms Kast chaired various foundations, including the Onex City Real Estate Foundation (FIVO). She was also a member of the Administrative Commission of Real Estate Foundations of Public Law (CAFI).

With a Master degree in Law from the University of Geneva, Ms. Kast has chosen an academic path that allows her to defend human rights. The protection of animals and the defence of local products are also issues dear to her heart and she actively supports associations such as SOS Chats or Trial International, when she is not tending to the family vineyard in Loëx.
