Birgitta Elisa Oftestad

Birgitta Elisa Oftestad, born in Oslo in 2002, is a rising Norwegian cellist celebrated for her expressive sound and compelling stage presence. A winner of 18 national and international first prizes, she was a finalist in Eurovision Young Musicians 2018 and won NRK’s Virtuos, the Norwegian Soloist Prize, and Frans Helmerson’s Award from the prestigious Kronberg Academy. She has performed as a soloist with major orchestras including the Oslo Philharmonic, BBC Scottish Symphony, and Norwegian Radio Orchestra, and has appeared at renowned festivals such as Verbier, Bergen International, and Kaunas. Birgitta studies with Prof. Thorleif Thedéen at the Norwegian Academy of Music and plays a 1698 Ruggieri cello on loan from Anders Sveaas’ Charitable Foundation.
