Anna Derkacheva

Anna Derkacheva is an Associate Professor and Research Fellow at the Faculty of Geography and Information Technology at HSE University in Moscow. Her background includes two Master Degrees in Geoinformatics and in Risk Mapping in Russia and France, and PhD in Remote Sensing defended in France.

Anna carries out the research on ML and big data applied to natural hazards. The main goal is to generate the geospatial data on hazard and risk for supporting the development of local adaptation policies. So, the focus is the democratized application of the existing technologies rather than invention of a new one.

Anna is the initiator and one of the main implementers of the idea with which her team becomes a competition winner: exploitation of the open, ready-to-use GPT models and worldwide open source geodata for massive collection and structuring of the disaster factual data.
