Andrin Eichin

Mr. Andrin Eichin works as a Senior Policy Advisor on online platforms, artificial intelligence and digital policy at the Swiss Federal Office of Communications (OFCOM) since 2019. As an expert on the intersection of digital policy and freedom of speech, he works in policy development on national level and represents Switzerland in various international fora.

On the national level, is part of OFCOM’s core policy team developing Switzerland’s new legislation for the regulation of online platforms as well as the governance approach for artificial intelligence. He has also contributed to the Swiss Government’s recent report on AI governance (published in February 2025, available here in EN) as well as a policy report on the impact of platforms and algorithms on public opinion formation and public communication (report published in November 2021, available here in FR, EN on request).

He is also actively involved in the implementation of Switzerland’s National Action Plan for the safety of media professionals, which was published in May 2023 (available here). In addition, he is the National Focal Point for the Council of Europe Campaign for the Safety of Journalists.

At the Council of Europe, he serves currently as the Chair of the Expert Committee on the Implications of Generative AI on the Freedom of Speech (MSI-AI). The Committee is tasked to develop a guidance note for Member States on the issue until the end of 2025.

Before joining the Swiss Federal Office of Communications, Andrin Eichin worked as Assistant Director in the UK’s Department for Business, Energy and Industrial strategy, where was among other the UK negotiation lead for the EU Platform-to-Business Regulation. He holds a Master degree (M.A.) in International Studies from Goldsmiths, University of London and a Bachelor degree (B.A.) in International Relations from the University of Geneva. He is fluent in German, French and English and has basic knowledge in Italian.
