Amy Diaz

Dr. Amy Diaz is an equity-minded leader who has advocated for student access and success in higher education over the past 30 years. She is passionate about the community college’s mission – changing lives through education – and the diverse student body it serves.

Highlights of her leadership include serving as dean and vice president in both Student Affairs and Academic Affairs prior to serving as the 9th president of GateWay Community College (Arizona). Dr. Diaz has focused much of her recent professional career on futures thinking and reimagining learning and working.

Dr. Diaz has taught at the community college level in career exploration, first-year experience and mathematics, and in teacher education and educational psychology at the graduate level. She has served on multiple advisory boards including NACCE and serves as a peer reviewer with the Higher Learning Commission.

Dr. Diaz holds a doctorate in educational psychology, a master’s degree in counseling for higher education from Northern Illinois University, and a bachelor’s degree in Secondary Math Education from the University of Iowa.
