As AI and robotics transform every sector, it is essential to equip youth with the skills to navigate this new world. But what does it mean to teach AI and robotics in schools, and how can teachers be empowered to lead this change?

This interactive session brings together global and local experts to explore how AI and robotics can be taught in a way that is inclusive, context-aware, and aligned with Africa’s educational realities. After some initial kick-off statements from the panelists, the session will evolve into a dynamic conversation, focusing on active engagement from participating teachers. The discussion forms part of the broader ITU initiative in partnership with Google.org, to develop national AI and robotics curricula and teacher training programmes across Africa under the Robotics for Good Youth Challenge and the AI Skills Coalition.

Teachers’ insights will play an instrumental role in guiding the design of these curricula, ensuring that they are technically sound and relevant to the realities of South African classrooms. By sharing their perspectives and experiences, teachers will help shape a well-rounded, well-informed programme that prepares students to thrive in the age of AI.
