AI is rapidly reshaping the way countries understand, plan and respond to climate change. From strengthening climate data systems and early warning capabilities to improving sectoral efficiency and resilience, AI is increasingly seen as a strategic enabler of climate action. At the same time, its effective and equitable development depends on the broader enabling environments: access to digital infrastructure, technical capacity, policy coherence, finance and international cooperation.

Against this backdrop, technology development and transfer remain central to ensuring that the benefits of AI for climate action can be widely shared across countries and regions. National experiences are diverse. Some countries are advancing AI-enabled climate solutions through strong innovation ecosystems, while others are navigating persistent barriers related to capacity, investment, data availability and access to technology.

A leadership dialogue among high-level country representatives offers an opportunity to reflect on these national perspectives, identify common priorities, and explore how international cooperation can help accelerate inclusive, context-responsive, and action-oriented approaches. The dialogue will centre on how countries are approaching the opportunities and challenges associated with AI in the climate context.

    Session Objectives:

    • Facilitate a high-level exchange on national experiences and perspectives regarding the use of AI to support climate action, resilience and sustainable development.
    • Identify key opportunities, safeguards and enabling conditions for strengthening technology development and transfer.
    • Foster dialogue on how cross-border collaboration and multilateral engagement can support more inclusive and effective deployment of AI for climate action across different national contexts.
