As AI and robotics continue to evolve, drones are entering public life in increasingly visible ways. Their uses span a wide range of fields, from industry and public safety to creativity, communication, and personal storytelling. At the same time, public perception of drone technology is often shaped by a limited set of associations, raising important questions about how these systems are designed, experienced, and understood. In this keynote, MQ Wang, founder of HOVERAir, explores how AI-powered flying cameras can help broaden public understanding of drone technology. By prioritizing safety, accessibility, and human-centered design, HOVERAir presents an alternative vision in which flying devices are used not for distance or control, but for creativity, storytelling, and connection. MQ will share how embedding advanced AI into compact, consumer-friendly aerial devices can support new ways for individuals to capture personal experiences, engage with their surroundings, and document everyday life from new perspectives. This approach highlights the potential of AI-enabled flight to serve as a tool for expression and positive social interaction. At the AI for Good Global Summit, this talk invites audiences to reconsider how drones are perceived and to reflect on the importance of intentional design in shaping technologies that are trusted, inclusive, and aligned with human values.
