Within the autonomous driving domain, Artificial Intelligence (AI) holds the promise to provide practical solutions to address societal challenges on enhancing road safety (in line with SDG 3) and overall traffic efficiency and sustainability (in line with SDG 11).

To foster the safety of future automated vehicles, ITU-T Study Group 16 on “Multimedia and related digital technologies” established in 2020 the Focus Group on AI for Autonomous and Assisted Driving (FG-AI4AD), which conducted pathbreaking work on the behavioural evaluation of AI as a responsible driver, conceptualized the Molly Problem as an alternate thought expression to the “trolley problem” in the context of autonomous vehicles, and also laid forth the foundation for the defining of a minimal performance threshold for AI systems on the road.

FG-AI4AD’s work culminated in the development of three Technical Reports:

    • FGAI4AD-01 “Automated driving safety data protocol – Specification”
    • FGAI4AD-02 “Automated driving safety data protocol – Ethical and legal considerations of continual monitoring”
    • FGAI4AD-03 “Automated driving safety data protocol – Practical demonstrators”

This Webinar will provide a unique opportunity to present the key findings in each FG-AI4AD Technical Report, while underscoring future standardization plans and additional activities planned to enhance safety of future autonomous driving.

This live event includes a 15-minute networking event hosted on the AI for Good Neural Network. This is your opportunity to ask questions, interact with the panelists and participants and build connections with the AI for Good community.
