On 25 March 2026, ITU’s AI for Good initiative, with the generous support of Google.org and in collaboration with the ITU–UNICEF Giga initiative, will deliver a Training of Trainers workshop in Ghana as part of the AI and Robotics Youth Training Programme. This workshop is one of five taking place across Africa in March 2026, marking the beginning of the programme’s implementation phase.

The initiative aims to equip secondary-level educators with the knowledge and tools needed to introduce foundational artificial intelligence and robotics learning to students aged 10-18. The programme strengthens teachers’ understanding of AI and robotics concepts, and responsible technology use, while offering practical guidance for bringing hands-on, problem-solving activities into the classroom.

Participants will work with a blended curriculum co-developed with leading education and research partners, exploring modules on AI literacy, coding and robotics fundamentals, digital ethics, and project-based learning. The workshop provides opportunities for teachers to engage with the material, collaborate with peers, and gain confidence delivering activities with their students.

Following the training, teachers will receive ongoing support and access to digital resources as they implement the programme within their schools throughout the academic year. They may also guide students in participating in national AI and robotics activities linked to ITU’s global Robotics for Good Youth Challenge.

This workshop serves as a foundational milestone in the programme’s broader objective: enabling young people to develop essential AI and robotics skills, strengthen creativity, and apply technology to real challenges in their communities. Lessons learned will contribute to a scalable model for future expansion across the wider Robotics for Good Youth Challenge network.
