AI for Good Partners with Swiss AI Summit for Global AI Pitch Competition

AI for Good is proud to collaborate with the Swiss AI Summit (SWAIS) as exclusive partners for the Global AI Pitch Competition taking place on 14 November 2024. Together, we aim to discover and support AI-driven innovations that contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). AI for Good plays an active role in selecting promising startups, with Guillem Martínez Roura, our AI and Robotics Programme Officer, joining the jury. He will also participate in a panel discussion on AI and Sustainability, exploring how AI can address global challenges and promote sustainability, sharing insights on advancing the use of AI for the SDGs and highlighting the International Telecommunication Union’s initiatives for this purpose, including AI for Good’s work.
The pitching competition is an incredible opportunity for startups developing AI solutions that address critical global challenges. Startups will pitch their projects to a world-class jury, gain exposure to global investors and partners, and connect with the Swiss AI ecosystem. Exciting prizes will be awarded by leading AI pioneers, making this event a valuable platform for innovators seeking to drive meaningful change through artificial intelligence.
For a closer look at the competition, we spoke with the organizer, Timea Nagy, to get her thoughts on the event.
Which solutions are you most excited to see in the pitching competition?
In principle, we are genuinely curious to see new AI startup ideas in general. Nonetheless, we are particularly interested to ideas that focus on sustainability, such as AI innovations for optimizing energy use, as well as those that improve access to technology for underserved communities. It’s inspiring to see how AI can make a tangible difference in areas like climate action or social equality, and we are eager to see what fresh perspectives and groundbreaking ideas emerge from the competition.
Why did you choose to partner with AI for Good?
It is a privilege to partner with AI for Good. To have such a prestigious event endorsing the Swiss AI Summit as well supporting the global pitch competition can only underline the mission of AI for Good in fostering sustainable innovation. Reason why partnering with “AI for Good” felt like a natural decision because it aligns with the vision of the Swiss AI Summit. This allows Swiss AI Summit to be part of a larger movement that’s making a meaningful impact on society and the environment on a global scale.
How does the Swiss AI Summit foster positive social or environmental change?
The Swiss AI Summit actively fosters positive social and environmental change by creating a platform for innovation and collaboration across various industries. The event brings together a diverse group of leaders, experts, and AI enthusiasts to explore cutting-edge advancements, exchange insights, and develop solutions to some of the world’s most pressing challenges, be it from a social perspective, legal, practical, financial, or other similar challenges.
With dedicated panel discussions on critical topics like AI in Sustainability, AI in Healthcare, and Industrial AI. The AI in Sustainability panel aims to highlight how AI can be leveraged to tackle environmental issues such as climate change and resource management, while also addressing social challenges like improving healthcare access and reducing inequalities.
Accordingly, the summit in general addresses the challenges that fully-fledged companies are facing as well as the startups. We think that it is important to have a holistic approach to be able to ensures that innovative solutions are both inclusive and far-reaching, accelerating the development of AI technologies.
