Mark Ma

Mark Ma is the President of SenseRobot, a pioneering AI hardware company dedicated to building intelligent, human-centered robots that support learning, emotional connection, and inclusive care in everyday life.

Mark began his academic journey in electronic engineering at Xidian University, where he earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees. He later conducted doctoral research in computer vision and facial recognition at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, laying a strong foundation for his lifelong dedication to applied artificial intelligence.

Over the past two decades, Mark has led the development and deployment of more than 200,000 AI-powered smart terminals, including offline facial recognition systems, access control devices, and non-contact health monitoring solutions. These technologies have been widely adopted across telecommunications, public safety, and healthcare, and played a critical role in large-scale infrastructure and emergency response.

Mark took the helm of SenseRobot as President, overseeing the launch of the world’s first home-use humanoid chess-playing robot. These robots go beyond entertainment — they are designed to provide emotional companionship for the elderly, cognitive development for children, and inclusive engagement for individuals with disabilities. SenseRobot has since become one of China’s top-ranking consumer robotics brands and a widely recognized case of “AI for Good.”

Mark holds dozens of AI-related patents and has received multiple national innovation awards, including grants from China’s Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and the Shenzhen Science and Innovation Commission. In 2018, he was appointed Visiting Professor at the School of Artificial Intelligence, Xidian University, and in 2010, was selected for the prestigious “Hundred Talents Program” of Shaanxi Province, receiving the title of Distinguished Expert for his contributions to innovation and entrepreneurship.

His vision is to make advanced technology more accessible, ethical, and human-centered — ensuring that AI not only becomes smarter, but also serves humanity.
