The “AI for Good Youth Zone” is an integral component of the broader AI for Good Youth Program. It provides a dynamic series of practical workshops and hands-on sessions focusing on AI and robotics. These sessions are scheduled to happen at the AI for Good Global Summit, which will be held on May 30-31 of this year at the Geneva International Conference Center (CICG) in Geneva, Switzerland.

This program presents a unique educational opportunity for educators and students alike. Participants will engage in interactive workshops designed to foster hands-on learning experiences. These sessions are specifically tailored to enhance practical learning through collaborative projects. Students will have the opportunity to work together on innovative initiatives and develop new skills that are pertinent to their educational advancement. Additionally, the program offers invaluable networking opportunities, allowing educators to connect with their peers and industry experts. This convergence of learning and networking cultivates a productive environment for both personal and professional growth in the fields of AI and robotics.

Discover disaster robotics at the AI For Good Global Summit 2024’s Youth Programme. Engage in the Robotics for Good Youth Challenge, a UN-based global robotics competition. Work as a team and use your knowledge of robotics and coding to solve challenges inspired by real-world issues, offering a chance to learn, network with peers, educators, and professionals, and explore the intersection of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and AI.    All participants will receive special gifts from TechLabs Giving and VEX Robotics.

In this dynamic workshop, step into the roles of humanitarian workers navigating a simulated rescue mission with the help of advanced robotics. Drawing inspiration from the real-life operations of organizations like the World Food Programme (WFP), you are invited to use the mBot2 robot, provided by TechLabs Giving, to deliver vital supplies to a simulated refugee camp. This interactive session not only highlights the pivotal role of robotics in humanitarian initiatives but also gamifies the experience to enhance engagement. This setup ensures participants leave with a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by communities in crisis and the innovative approaches that can alleviate these situations.

Explore the basic principles of AI and its use in a very concrete example: autonomous vehicles. How does a smart car detect and analyze its environment? How does it learn to identify traffic signs, other vehicles, and pedestrians to navigate safely? Throughout the session, you will discover through hands-on experience the basics of computer vision and machine learning.    The workshop is offered 3 times per day on both days, totaling 6 sessions. Each workshop lasts for one hour with the following available timings: 9:00 to 10:00, 10:15 to 11:15, and 14:00 to 15:00.

Dive into the design of kinetic paper structures to animate with our Thymio robot. Immerse yourself in a world where paper meets technology, transforming ideas into living, evolving works of art!

What do children learn at school? Based on the digital education syllabus for the French-speaking part of Switzerland, this session invites parents and professionals to discover the activities proposed in the classrooms to tackle the concepts of artificial intelligence.

Come and discover the Thymio educational robot. We’ll go from “unplugged” activities (without screens) to “VPL programming”, and discover the robot’s pre-programmed modes. No notion of robotics or programming is necessary for this activity.
