Junyoung Choi

Dr. Choi obtained a master and Ph.D. degree from Hanyang university, Seoul, South Korea by researching “Applying case-based reasoning approach for spatial analysis” and “Analysis of location changes of ICT firm’s inter-regional movement” in urban planning. After that, he worked at urban information research center and research group for mass transit reform in Seoul Institute and policy research center in Korea Local Information research and Development (KLID) until 2006. From 2006 to 2020, he had participated in the various national projects and researches on spatial policy support systems of housing and urban development for the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport of Republic of Korea and Korea Land and Housing corporation (LH). He also had worked as a staff secondment in Safer Cities Programme, UN-Habitat in 2018. In 2020, he joined at the Seoul Institute of Technology as a director of center for data science. His research domain at the institute is urban data science & planning decision support based on AV/VR technology. He is currently leading the researches such as “Development of Spatio-Temporal Epidemic Simulation Model (STEpiSim) using telecommunication big data (2020)”, “Development of the extended reality-based robot city design for testing the urban robotics (2021)” and “A Study on the Changes and Responses to the Digital Transformation City (2021)”.
