  • Should we regulate artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics? Can we? While AI and robotics have the potential to transform whole areas of the economy, potentially playing a major role in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), they also raise the possibility of causing harm through misuse or malfunctioning, or concerns that the benefits they offer will not be distributed equally.
This session will discuss whether and how to regulate AI and robotics, including the important questions of when regulation can be imposed without constraining innovation, the different reasons why regulation may be justified, shaping the measures to be imposed, as well as the matter of who should be doing the regulating at the national and international level.
